Microsoft President Smith recently stated that China will not fall behind the US tech giants in the development of generative artificial intelligence.
Smith pointed out: "We believe there are three companies at the absolute forefront: OpenAI in collaboration with Microsoft, Google, and the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, BAAI). He particularly mentioned the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, a new research institution jointly promoted by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Haidian District Government.

The Zhiyuan Institute of Artificial Intelligence officially unveiled on November 14, 2018, at the opening ceremony of the China (Beijing) Cross-border Technology Transfer Conference. On March 20, 2020, the Zhiyuan Institute of Artificial Intelligence launched the ultra-large-scale AI model 'Wudao 1.0', which took only 8 months to develop.
On June 1, 2021, the Zhiyuan Institute of Artificial Intelligence released 'Wudao 2.0', with a parameter scale of 1.75 trillion, 10 times the size of the GPT-3 model, setting a record of "China's first + world's largest".
In addition to the breakthrough in model scale, the Zhiyuan Institute of Artificial Intelligence has also made significant progress in model architecture.
