At the 2022 Yunqi Conference, the DAMO Academy, in partnership with the Open Source Development Committee of the CCF, launched the AI Model Community "ModelScope," aiming to lower the entry barrier for AI applications.

AI models are relatively complex, especially when applied to industry scenarios, often requiring retraining. This makes AI accessible only to a few algorithm experts, hindering its popularization. The newly launched ModelScope community, however, adheres to the new concept of Model as a Service, providing numerous pre-trained basic models that can be quickly put into use with slight adjustments for specific scenarios.

The DAMO Academy has contributed over 300 verified high-quality AI models to the ModelScope community, more than 1/3 of which are in Chinese, fully open-source and open for direct use as services.The initial open-source models include major AI directions such as vision, voice, natural language processing, and multimodal, and explore new fields like AI for Science, covering over 60 mainstream tasks. All models have been expertly selected and verified, including more than 150 SOTA (State-of-the-Art) models and more than 10 large models, fully open-source and open for use.
