GitHub Official Website, an online software open-source code hosting platform

What is GitHub?

GitHub is an online software source code hosting service that uses Git as its version control software, developed by developers Chris Wanstrath, P. J. Hyett, and Tom Preston-Werner using Ruby on Rails. In 2018, GitHub was acquired by Microsoft Corporation. GitHub offers both paid and free accounts. In addition to Git code repository hosting and basic web management interfaces, GitHub also provides convenient features for socialized collaborative software development, including allowing users to track the activities of other users, organizations, and software repositories, comment on code changes and bugs, etc.
